Thank You Lord for the Blessings of Those Around Us.
I received an email message through the Conference Office that a clergy colleague of mine passed at the end of July. His name was Rev. David Tinney. Thoughts of him reminded me of the importance of staying in touch with those who enrich our lives and letting them know how much we appreciate them.
Remembering him warms my heart. He was kind, interested in others, and expressed warm hospitality to those around him. If people have touched our lives with love, any remembrance of them can bless us again. Whose life can you give thanks for today?
We don’t need to wait until someone is gone to reflect on how they have blessed us. Anytime is a good time to remember and give thanks. Is there someone in your list of phone numbers who you haven’t called or texted in a while who is special to you? When you see their name, or think of them, does it make you smile? Maybe this week is a good time to give them a call and just let them know that you appreciate them.
Is there someone whose company you enjoy, but haven’t spent time with in a while? Maybe this month is the right time to have coffee, lunch, or enjoy a fun outing with them. seize the day because no day is promised! We have more love in our lives as we endeavor to spend time loving those around us, and by spending time with those who love us. Each day is a good day to make new good memories and express appreciation for those for whom we care.
Today I give thanks for Rev. David Tinney.
Who do you give thanks for today?
How will you express your appreciation for them, to them today?
I give God thanks, also, today for you. Thank you for being a part of my life and my family of faith. I appreciate having people in my life with whom I can experience God. I carry you in my heart.
